Maplesoft and Chest

Maplesoft has been working with Chest for over two decades to provide preferential pricing for Maple and MapleSim licenses to universities and colleges in the UK and Ireland. By purchasing through a Chest Agreement, institutions obtain access to Maplesoft software for all their staff and students at a specially negotiated price that will remain fixed for three years. More than half all of all universities and colleges in the UK and Ireland have obtained Maplesoft software through a Chest Agreement.

Maplesoft Chest Agreements

How do I know a Chest licence is the right option for my institution?
A Chest licence is a very economical way to provide unlimited Maple or MapleSim usage of Maplesoft software across your entire campus, giving the freedom for all faculty and students to make use of the software whenever they see an educational benefit or research need. The unlimited Chest licence often costs less than buying a specific number of licences, and the costs are fixed for three years, so you are protected from price increases.

Most institutions find that the Chest license is the best choice to meet their needs. However, if would like to explore other flexible license options available from Maplesoft, talk to us. We will work closely with each institution to make sure your licence is exactly the right fit.

What does a Maplesoft Chest site licence include?

PLUS:

What options do you have for remote use?

The Standard Licence Agreement includes home use for 100 lecturers To extend this to cover everyone who needs access, simply add the Student & Staff Distribution/Virtualisation Extension to your licence. This option allows any and all of the following:

  • Distribution: You can distribute copies of the software to students and staff to install and use on their own, personally-owned computers.  An internet connection is required to activate the software, but after that, the software can be used even when the user is off-line.
  • Virtualisation: You can allow students/staff to access Maplesoft software remotely, such as through a campus cloud, through flexible license key sharing using Citrix® software or similar systems, or other means.  The software is installed on university-owned computers, and students and staff can access it from any computer using an internet connection.

What if we have students overseas?

The Student & Staff Distribution/Virtualisation Extension covers remote use in the same country as the licence is held. If you have students overseas needing access to the site licence, contact us to discuss your options for getting the software to these students.
