Student[MultivariateCalculus]

 Equal
test if two points, lines, or planes coincide

 Calling Sequence Equal(p1, p2)

Parameters

p1, p2 - Line or Plane object defined in Student[MultivariateCalculus], or list of coordinates defining a point

Description

 • The Equal command determines if two points, two lines, or two planes are equal.
 • Even if two lines or planes are constructed using different arguments, they can still be equal.

Examples

 > $\mathrm{with}\left(\mathrm{Student}\left[\mathrm{MultivariateCalculus}\right]\right):$
 > $\mathrm{l1}≔\mathrm{Line}\left(\left[0,0,0\right],⟨4,2,7⟩\right):$
 > $\mathrm{l2}≔\mathrm{Line}\left(\left[-4,-2,-7\right],\left[0,0,0\right]\right):$
 > $\mathrm{Equal}\left(\mathrm{l1},\mathrm{l2}\right)$
 ${\mathrm{true}}$ (1)
 > $\mathrm{l3}≔\mathrm{Line}\left(\mathrm{Plane}\left(\left[7,2,6\right],⟨3,-1,3⟩\right),\mathrm{Plane}\left(\left[3,2,3\right],⟨3,2,-1⟩\right)\right):$
 > $\mathrm{Equal}\left(\mathrm{l1},\mathrm{l3}\right)$
 ${\mathrm{false}}$ (2)
 > $\mathrm{Equal}\left(\left[0,0,0\right],\left[0,1,0\right]\right)$
 ${\mathrm{false}}$ (3)
 > $\mathrm{Equal}\left(\left[3,2\right],\left[3,2\right]\right)$
 ${\mathrm{true}}$ (4)
 > $\mathrm{p1}≔\mathrm{Plane}\left(\left[0,0,2\right],\left[0,1,2\right],\left[9,3,1\right]\right):$
 > $\mathrm{p2}≔\mathrm{Plane}\left(\left[0,1,2\right],⟨2,0,18⟩\right):$
 > $\mathrm{Equal}\left(\mathrm{p1},\mathrm{p2}\right)$
 ${\mathrm{true}}$ (5)
 > $\mathrm{p3}≔\mathrm{Plane}\left(\left[3,1,5\right],⟨-4,7,1⟩\right):$
 > $\mathrm{Equal}\left(\mathrm{p1},\mathrm{p3}\right)$
 ${\mathrm{false}}$ (6)
