Units of Electric Dipole Moment Description

 • Electric dipole moment has the dimension electric current time length. The SI composite unit of electric dipole moment is the ampere second meter.
 • Maple knows the units of electric dipole moment listed in the following table.

Name Symbols Context Alternate Spellings Prefixes debye D standard * debyes SI

An asterisk ( * ) indicates the default context, an at sign (@) indicates an abbreviation, and under the prefixes column, SI indicates that the unit takes all SI prefixes, IEC indicates that the unit takes IEC prefixes, and SI+ and SI- indicate that the unit takes only positive and negative SI prefixes, respectively.  Refer to a unit in the Units package by indexing the name or symbol with the context, for example, debye[standard] or D[standard]; or, if the context is indicated as the default, by using only the unit name or symbol, for example, debye or D.
The unit of electric dipole moment is defined as follows.
A debye is defined as $1.×{10}^{-18}$ statcoulomb second or $\frac{1.×{10}^{-21}}{c}$ coulomb second where c is the magnitude of the speed of light, and is energy-equivalent to $1.×{10}^{-18}$ square root dyne square centimeter (sqrt(dyne)*cm^2). Examples

 > $\mathrm{convert}\left('\mathrm{debye}','\mathrm{dimensions}','\mathrm{base}'=\mathrm{true}\right)$
 ${\mathrm{electric_current}}{}{\mathrm{time}}{}{\mathrm{length}}$ (1)
 > $\mathrm{convert}\left(1.×{10}^{18},'\mathrm{units}','\mathrm{debye}','\mathrm{statC}''\mathrm{cm}'\right)$
 ${1.000000000}$ (2)
 > $\mathrm{convert}\left(1.×{10}^{18},'\mathrm{units}','\mathrm{debye}',\mathrm{sqrt}\left('\mathrm{dyne}'\right){'\mathrm{cm}'}^{2},'\mathrm{energy}'\right)$
 ${1.000000000}$ (3)
