Exporting and Editing Parameter Sets to an Excel Spreadsheet

MapleSim lets you export parameter sets for your model to an Excel spreadsheet where you can view, edit and do a side-by-side comparison of the values.

Note: You must first create and save a parameter set as part of a model. For more information, see Saving and Applying Parameter Sets.

To export a parameter set from MapleSim into an Excel spreadsheet

1.

Open the model that contains the parameter set you want to export.

2.

Click the Add Apps or Templates tab ( ).

3.

From the Apps palette, under Utility, select Excel Connectivity.  The App opens in the Analysis window.

4.

In the Excel Connectivity app, scroll to the Export to Excel section.

5.

From the Parameter Set File in MapleSim list, select the parameter set you want to export.

6.

To change the file location and name, select the Set Default File Location check box, and enter the file location.

7.

Click Export to Excel. The file is saved.

8.

Repeat the procedure for each additional parameter set that you want to export to the same Excel spreadsheet.

You can now edit the values in the Excel spreadsheet and then import the parameter set back into MapleSim using the Excel Connectivity app.  Your newly created Excel spreadsheet will have the following format:

•

The first column of the spreadsheet represents the parameter names of your model. The heading for this column must be MapleSim Filename Params.

•

Any subsequent column represents the values of a parameter set. The heading of any such column must be of the form filename.params. This heading will be used as the parameter set file name in MapleSim.

In the example spreadsheet below, columns B and C correspond to the parameter sets bbc and afa. The contents of these two parameter sets will be imported to MapleSim as parameter files called bbc.params and afa.params, respectively.

If, for example, you wanted to change the value of the parameter, simulation.relerr in the bbc.params parameter set, you would edit the cell B2, save your changes and then import the parameter set back into MapleSim.

If you wanted to change the value of the parameter R1.T from 300.1500000 K to 400.1500000 K, in the afa.params parameter set, you would edit the value enclosed in parenthesis in the WithUnits() command, in cell C8, save your changes and then import the parameter set back into MapleSim.
