det - Maple Help

Matlab

 det
compute the determinant of a MapleMatrix or MatlabMatrix in MATLAB(R)

 Calling Sequence det(X)

Parameters

 X - MapleMatrix, or MatlabMatrix

Description

 • The Matlab[det] command computes the determinant of a matrix using MATLAB®.
 • Since constants are considered one-by-one matrices, the determinant of a constant returns the constant.
 • Executing the Matlab[det] command returns a float.

Examples

Define the Maple matrix

 > $\mathrm{with}\left(\mathrm{Matlab}\right):$
 > $\mathrm{maplematrix_a}≔\mathrm{Matrix}\left(\left[\left[1,3,5\right],\left[6,4,2\right],\left[7,8,1\right]\right]\right):$

The determinant of this MapleMatrix is computed as

 > $\mathrm{Matlab}\left[\mathrm{det}\right]\left(\mathrm{maplematrix_a}\right)$

A matrix is set in MATLAB®, manipulated, and the new matrix's determinant is computed

 > $\mathrm{Matlab}\left[\mathrm{setvar}\right]\left("matlabmatrix_a",\mathrm{maplematrix_a}\right)$
 > $\mathrm{Matlab}\left[\mathrm{evalM}\right]\left("matlabmatrix_b = matlabmatrix_a ^ 2"\right)$
 > $\mathrm{Matlab}\left[\mathrm{det}\right]\left("matlabmatrix_b"\right)$
