Description The MapleSim Heat Transfer Library gives you a comprehensive view into the heat transfer effects present in your model, enabling you to refine your design to improve performance and avoid overheating. The MapleSim Heat Transfer Library is useful for any situation where heat generation is a concern, especially when there are moving boundaries between heat generating components, such as motors, batteries, printers, and manufacturing equipment.

Interfaces

The basic port connections are based on the http://doc.modelica.org/help/Modelica_Thermal_HeatTransfer_Interfaces.html#Modelica.Thermal.HeatTransfer.Interfaces.HeatPort port type, whose signals are given in the following table.

Symbol Units Kind Description T $K$ across Port temperature Q_flow $W$ flow Heat flow; positive is into component

Directories

The components of the Heat Transfer library are arranged into directories. For a description of each of the component types, see the table below.

Library Description Model basic heat and thermal components, such as heat capacitor, thermal conductor, heat convection, and heat radiation; and model moving boundaries using heat contact and heat routing. Define heat flow and temperature Combine multiple basic thermal components Model generic nodes, consisting of heat capacitors and thermal conductors, in various 2-D and 3-D shapes, such as cuboid, cylindrical, ring, and ring sector Select or define the thermal properties of standard materials Manage the routing between thermal connections Monitor heat flow and temperature Model generic ideal thermal conductor solids in 2-D and 3-D, such as cuboid, cylindrical, or ring shapes, using multiple nodes Model heat transfer through air Model heat transfer through water Visualize temperature change. These components are based on the Nodes and Shapes components, but can be treated as multibody components.

Boards and Parts Generation App Create a custom component of a circuit board with parts using the Boards and Parts Generation app.
Temperature Distribution App Use the Temperature Distribution app to plot a 3-D visualization of the temperature distribution of a Heat Transfer shape component, mapping temperatures to colors. For more info on using apps in MapleSim, see Opening MapleSim Apps and Templates.
Examples See the models under Help > Examples > Heat Transfer Examples for typical uses of selected components from this library.
