Overview of Computation in VectorCalculus

The computation commands available in the Student[VectorCalculus] package are:
•
These commands can be used to study the concepts and computations of vector calculus. The commands in this package are generally simplified versions of similar commands available in the full VectorCalculus package. The principal simplification is the reduction of the coordinate systems supported, down to just four: cartesian, polar, spherical, and cylindrical.
Additionally, the commands in theStudent[VectorCalculus] package try to guess which coordinate system you intend to be working in if you do not explicitly state one, or will choose coordinate names if you provide only the generic system name (e.g., cartesian or spherical).

Note also that there are some commands, such as DotProduct and Norm which also occur in the LinearAlgebra and Student[LinearAlgebra] packages, but with slightly different functionality: The commands in the Student[VectorCalculus] package generally assume that the domain of computation is vector spaces over the real number field, while those in either of the LinearAlgebra packages assume the base field is the complex numbers. This is relevant if you have two or more of these packages loaded at the same time.
