Overview of the CurrentContext[Queries] Subpackage
Calling Sequence
Queries[command](arguments)
command(arguments)
Description
The Queries subpackage is a collection of tools to add and use queries. A query is a procedure called on the selected object, which may be used to determine whether the object should be displayed in a context menu and, if an entry generator is used (see ContextMenu,CurrentContext,EntryGenerators, what entries should be present in an automatically generated submenu.
A query may be boolean-valued, meaning it returns true, false, or FAIL, or it may return information of a different type. A boolean-valued query may be used in the test parameter to the Entries[Add] command to specify that the appearance of the entry in the context menu for a given selected object is dependent on the return value of this query.
You can add to the set of recognized queries using the Queries[Add] command. You can view a list of recognized query names using the Queries[List] command, and you can obtain the procedure associated with a defined query name using the Queries[Get] command. In addition, you can run a query on a specified input using the Queries[Run] command.
Each command in the Queries package can be accessed by using either the long form or the short form of the command name in the command calling sequence.
As the underlying implementation of the Queries package is a module, it is also possible to use the form Queries:-command to access a command from the package. For more information, see Module Members.
